Deacon Tom was born in Cleveland, Ohio and has spent most of my life there. He graduated from St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. Following that he received an Associate Degree in Data Processing from Cuyahoga Community College and and undergraduate Degree in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace. He married his wife, Margee, on December 30, 1971 and they have three children: Tara, Justin and Emily. Deacon Tom and Margee are the proud grandparents of eight grandchildren.
Deacon Tom first retired after thirty years in the telecommunications industry working for Ohio Bell, Ameritech, SBC and AT&T. He then began working for the Cleveland Diocesan Tribunal in September of 2001; he worked there four days a week as the Business Manager and Canonical Auditor.
Deacon Tom was raised Catholic and has always had a special affection for the Catholic faith and its religious practices. He was ordained a Deacon on May 13, 2000, after four years of study at St. Mary’s Seminary. He spent my first ten and a half years of diaconal ministry serving at St. Mary of the Falls, in Olmsted Falls, OH.
Deacon Tom was assigned to Sacred Heart Parish on December 1, 2010 and remained active in diaconal ministry at the parish for nearlyten years. With the permission of Bp. Nelson J. Perez, Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland, Deacon Tom was granted permission to retire on 1 June 2020 – but, because of the coronavirus pandemic, chose to delay his retirement until 30 August 2020. He presently lives in close proximity to St. Clarence Parish (North Olmsted) and regularly attends Mass there with his wife, Margee; he also, with some frequency, exercises his diaconal ministry there as well.
